That said, I've never seen a snake in all the years I've been here, but I have seen many of them in the lakes of Uppsala, north of Stockholm. My Swedish lover's granddad tackled them and took them out onto the lake in a box and tossed them back in. They were a sort of greenish/brownish shade of scales, very pretty.

But apparently also rather poisonous.

It's wonderful to be in Finland: not even mid-April and the sun's blazing down these last few days with more of the same predicted until well into next week. Cloudless skies by day are absolutely stunning, but the the clear night skies are utterly fucking awesome. Hundreds of stars visible from the comfort of my bed, I sleep like a baby after nodding off while watching satellites move gracefully across the skies.

Some days I have to pinch myself and remind myself how much worse off I'd be had I stuck around in Ireland.
Paddy's going mental with the gas stations running dry, so he fucks his neighbours up as much as he can - just to make the point that he can.

Regardless, we'll be basking in sun and clear skies for the next week at least with water shortages predicted if the rains don't arrive soon. Apart from all that, we're celebrating an excellent beginning to the coming summer months with multiple free public events scheduled all over the country.
